Support and training on Lattitude ICS
You will be supported throughout the programme. Each volunteer is assigned a volunteer coordinator who will help guide them through their ICS journey. The training and support which is provided for you is divided into 3 phases:
First of all you will go through the Engage Phase, attending a pre-departure briefing (2.5 days) about 6 weeks before departure.
Next is the Develop Phase once you are in country, starting with an in-country orientation (3-4 days), then a mid term review, and finally an in-country debrief at the end of your project. Throughout the Develop Phase you will also receive 1-to-1 supervision with your UK and in-country Team Leaders, as well as weekly team meetings and Active Citizenship Days (ACDs), which focus on learning around global development issues.
Finally there is the Empower Phase, which begins with a 2 day workshop within a month of your return, which reflects on your experience and looks to make use of it for the future, including setting you up for your Action at Home.
Check out this video overview of the 2 day workshop we call the Empower Workshop, which begins the Empower Phase of your volunteer journey:
