Hi everyone,

I think it’s great sharing with each-other our own personal reasons behind why we’ve volunteered to go on a GAP Year with Lattitude Global Volunteering. We can see what we have in common with other volunteers and also potential volunteers can also see, why people volunteer with Lattitude Global Volunteering.

For me personally, I’ve always been keen at the idea of taking a GAP Year, initially my desire was to travel during this period. However, I then decided to research into Gap Years and stumbled across various organisations, who mostly offered, short 2-4 week experiences, where everything is crammed in and usually at high prices. Then I came across Lattitude, I read what it had to offer, what you can do, where you can go and was just blown away. I’ve always wanted to help people, which is why I felt the Teaching Assistant programme was best suited to be, as I would have the opportunity to work with younger people and help advance their education alongside professionals. I chose Australia as my destination, mainly because I’ve visited the country before in 2009 and really enjoyed their lifestyle and since then I’ve been interested in moving there in my later years after University. I think the information the whole team provide you with is fantastic! They’re always so happy to help and give advice all the time and really help us feel confident with their service.

Happy travelling! :)

Hello James,

I personally decided to take a gap year because I have been on two expeditions with World Challenge. These were short expeditions and now I am eager to volunteer in another country as I am interested in other cultures and the way that different communities live their lifestyles. I chose to go to New Zealand as I did a research task on the country for an A Level project and it looked like a fascinating place, but I would much rather see the beautiful country in person and not in pictures on the web.

I hope that your year in Australia is going well :)
