Gap Year Volunteering
Taking a gap year is a big decision. It will mean putting off university or the start of your career . But it is of course what you choose to do with it that makes it something that is beneficial or not. At Lattitude Global Volunteering we see hundreds of young people every year embarking on rewarding, challenging and exciting overseas volunteering placements. These are not only an opportunity for young people to give up there time to help a community elsewhere in the world, but it is also an opportunity to use there gap year to increase there own skills and confidence.
Great for volunteer
We see the benefits of a productive overseas volunteering gap year time after time and even run post placement debriefing sessions to ensure volunteers can articulate their experiences and understand their achievements and development in the context of employment in the future. We work with a large graduate recruiter to ensure the latest transferable skills that recruiters are looking for are discussed, explained and put into the context of volunteer development and early career employment.
Great for host community
That is not to say that our programmes are all about our volunteers, a the heart of our mission is ensuring that programmes are run and monitored in a fashion that ensures the community is benefiting from the volunteers skills and enthusiasm. We match volunteers based on their abilities to placements where those interests are needed in order to create the most harmonious relationship possible between volunteer and host community. Ultimately the better the fit, the better the relationship and the more productive and positive the placement will be for both parties.
Our placements are challenging, exciting, tough and rewarding. They are interesting, tiring, emotional and adventurous. They will ask a lot of you, but will give you back everything with interest! Our placements are not a holiday, they are volunteering as it should be!
