Treks and challenges

Our volunteers are taking on one of the biggest challenges of their lives – why not take on yours?

People have many reasons for taking part in events like the ones we have on offer. Whether you would like to do it to fulfill a life-long ambition, improve your fitness, improve your teamwork skills, raise money for a great cause or simply to have fun, we are immensely grateful to all of our fundraisers, and we will offer you lots of support from the beginning. We can supply you with sponsorship forms, give you fundraising advice, help you set up a Just Giving page or even come and cheer for you on the big day!

Andrew Noakes took part in the London Marathon in 2010 and managed to raise a fantastic £834.36. He said, I had always thought about running the London Marathon and was never brave enough to do anything about it until my wife announced last year that she had managed to get me a place running for Lattitude. After the initial terror and a few days to think about it, I got used to the idea and started training - having never run more than a mile before, I finished in 4 hours 59 minutes. I had been hoping to do it in less than 4 hours 30 minutes, so decided that I had to do it again this year.

“My wife, Zoe, took a year out after school, before starting at university and secured a place with Lattitude Global Volunteering teaching English in Atlixco in Mexico. Even when I met her (10 years after she finished her placement) she was still raving about the time she spent in Atlixco, the different experiences she had, the people she met there and the friends she made - she is still in touch with some 17 years on. It was an amazing experience for her and one that will always be a part of her. It is great for me to be able to raise money for Lattitude so that other young people can benefit from similar experiences and give something back to the local communities in which they live and work for a few months.”

To make fundraising a little easier and so that you’re not on your own, why not get a team from work together to take on a challenge? Doing it with colleagues is a great motivator and can be a fantastic team building exercise. It will look great to both your employer and your customers. We can help you build PR around the event and support you every step of the way. Whether you’d like to cycle to Paris, trek to the summit of Mt Etna, kayak through Brazil or skydive in Salisbury, contact us for more information on all the options.

Urban Allstar Rally

The Urban Allstar Rally promises to be a thrilling banger rally across Europe including a number of challenges that will bring out the competitive spirit in everyone. If you have participated in rallies before then this won’t disappoint, and if you haven’t, then what are you waiting for?

Unlike other rallies of this calibre the Urban Allstar Rally donates 100% of the money it raises to charity. Teams must raise a minimum of £250 to enter the rally and can choose their favourite charity to donate to.

In 2009, the rally started in Buckinghamshire, took the ferry to Dover, went through Northern France and onto Belgium and eventually Germany. The route then twisted and turned its way through the breathtaking Alps into Switzerland for the final leg of the journey. The drivers then had a rest for the night in Zurich before heading home the next day. In 2010, the drive went from Buckinghamshire to Barcelona via Paris, La Rochelle, Toulouse and Andorra. For more information, visit www.urbanallstarrally.co.uk. The next rally to enter into will be in 2011.
