Are you looking for the authentic experience and a real adventure? Want to learn Spanish? Then you should not think twice, when the option of going to Argentina is right in front of you. This country is the eighth largest in the world, and at the same time it is the largest among the Spanish-speaking nations. Argentina is one of the South Americas most popular gap year destinations, which offers a wide range of gap year programs including volunteering or teaching English.
Argentina, as well as many other countries, has to face many different degrees of financial challenges since the economic breakdown in 2001. These challenges, in particular, include a rise in poverty and lack of funding in education, public services and community aid. As a result, many different organizations decided to interfere and currently work really hard to develop various programs that will try to help in these particular areas.
Despite the fact that these financial challenges concern the life of many local citizens, Argentina still remains a beautiful country, which is worthy to be explored. When visiting Buenos Aires, Argentina’s capital city, one will find that it is a city rich in both, Latino and European culture. Buenos Aires is full of different flavours and colours, and by taking a closer look, one will fall in love with it immediately. “From the lively streets of La Boca to chic Riverside Puerto Madero to the Tango inspired and bohemian San Telmo, Buenos Aires offers an ideal environment to enjoy oneself, while taking part in meaningful volunteer projects.”
Participating in some of the volunteering projects in Argentina, will allow one to be able to immerse into an exciting environment, and get away from the tourist trail. It is unnecessary to point out that any volunteering activity in that area will be very meaningful for the local communities, and the local people. Volunteering in Argentina provides many diverse experiences, ranging from organising outdoor games, teaching English phrases in small groups to various fundraising activities – thus, one can easily find something to do.
By volunteering in Buenos Aires, the volunteers will have the chance to spend time with the local people, and they will get a hands-on experience with the local culture. Their work will enrich their lives, and at the same time they will significantly contribute to bridge the cultural, social, and economic gap which currently exists in Argentina.
All the skills and talents that the individual volunteers have can be utilised, while volunteering. Argentina certainly welcomes everyone, who is willing to share whatever knowledge they have and, thus, one will be able to teach the children to dance, draw, or play football with them, as well as participate in some social projects that will help the individual communities to solve some of their issues. The more time and effort the volunteers will put in, the more rewarding their placement will be at the end.
