Exciting exciting exciting! I can happily say I will be on my travels to Ghana tomorrow. It has come so quick it is unreal.
When I got the exciting news I was accepted I couldn’t have been happier. Then came the realisation of fundraising. I have never done it before so it was a big challenge. However, I managed to arrange a sponsored walk where I go just over £150. My confidence did not grow so I used my own personal money to reach my target. Spreading the word around social media made a big difference as lots of people donated as much as they could. Last but not least my local Charity Organisation donated £200 towards as well. I still dnt feel as confident with fundraising but it has defiantly lifted the bar.
Next steps was out training programme. I can honestly say that the middle day was very hard to keep up with. All the information was so much but fantastic. We had out Skype calls with in country staff. A definite eye open, like this is it, it’s really happening . It was a fantastic couple of days and want to thank everyone who made it happen.
Now this is where I start to panicking, it’s time to start packing. After making sure the fundraising target was meet I have to make sure I have enough to buy everything to take with me. Checking kit lists over and over just making sure I defiantly have what I need and nothing else. Phew it’s all done and dusted but will everything fit? Ah just about so am just re-packing making sure it all fits.
The best part is to come……in country participation. It’s what we have aimed all this hard work around. I just hope I do my best and do all the help I can.
