The Year Out Group
Lattitude are founding members of the Year Out Group, which aims to ensure a high standard of care if provided to young people considering a gap year.  Lattitude adheres to the group’s code of practice, which can be found on their website.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
If you're currently working towards your Duke of Edinburgh award, or are thinking about getting involved, don't forget a Lattitude placement can count towards your Service and Residential section of the scheme.

The official website of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.  Here you will find all the latest information and travel advice for countries around the world.  As well as checking this site regularly before you leave, it’s also worth keeping an eye on during your placement, especially if you’re planning on visiting other countries after your project comes to an end.

It is illegal to bring all meat and meat products, milk or dairy products and potatoes into the UK from countries outside the EU in your luggage, even for personal use. Limited quantities of some food products including fish, eggs and honey, may be allowed from certain countries. If you're looking for an excuse to get on Facebook, then look no further! The new Lattitude group is a great place to see photos from returned volunteers and share experiences from your Lattitude placement.

STA Travel
Travel agency specialising in cheap fares for students and young people.  Their website also contains useful gap year tips as well as information on insurance and onward travel.

Lonely Planet

The Youth Hostel Association

Being a member of the YHA doesn't just mean you can stay in hostels in the UK, it opens the door to cheap places to stay around the world - ideal if you're planning on travelling after your placement.  The site also gives hints and tips for young travellers.
