What can you do Environment

A Lattitude volunteering environmental gap year program, will stretch and challenge you if you have a passion and respect for the natural environment.

The need to take better care of our planet is an issue that unites the globe and we
have partnered with a variety of dedicated organisations already carrying out valuable work.

Volunteers get hands-on experience as you work alongside students, teachers and scientists and tasks include building, cutting and maintaining trails, replanting and cataloguing species and educating local people about the environment. These projects are mainly located in remote areas and volunteers will need to be able to forgo some modern luxuries, have a reasonable level of fitness, people skills and a passion and respect for the natural environment.

Volunteers do a variety of jobs like monitoring turtles and replanting the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil, to working in an Australian or New Zealand National Park, ranging from maintaining national parks in Australia to pruning trees and clearing trails in the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil.

If you take the Australian or New Zealand option, your placement will be with a partner organisation and you will spend time working in different locations around the countries. In Brazil you will be based in one location. On all our environmental programs you will see a side of the country you are visiting that you simply wouldn’t see as a tourist.

Our programmes can be physically demanding, and you could find yourself working as part of a very small group. But they provide a great opportunity to experience wildlife and the countryside, and to get your hands dirty!
